Visitor Definition
- A visitor is someone who:
- Owns, operates, or parks a vehicle on campus
- Is not currently affiliated with Iowa State University (not a student, staff, faculty, etc.)
Visitor Void Policy for Parking Citations
- One Visitor Void Per Lifetime:
- Each visitor is allowed only one visitor void in their lifetime.
- Who Does Not Qualify for Visitor Status:
- Anyone who operates a vehicle registered to:
- Faculty
- Staff
- Student
- Graduate Student
- Vendor
- Contractor
- Construction Worker
- These individuals are not eligible for visitor voids, and the cited vehicle must not be affiliated with them.
- Anyone who operates a vehicle registered to:
- ISU Police Moving Violations:
- Moving violations are NOT eligible for a visitor void.
Options for Visitors Who Receive Citations
If you are a visitor and receive a citation, you have three options:
- Pay the citation
- Request a visitor void (if eligible)
- Appeal the citation
Special Rules for Visitors
- Visitors in Conferences or Short Courses:
- Visitors enrolled in conferences or short courses lasting more than one week are considered students.
- Faculty in charge of these programs may apply for special parking permits.
- Violations Not Eligible for Visitor Void:
- Medical violations
- Altering or counterfeiting violations
- Unauthorized possession violations
- Illegal parking violations
- Requesting a Visitor Void:
- You can request a visitor void for most violations within 90 days of receiving the citation.
- Once a citation is paid, it cannot be voided.
- Previous Visitor Voids:
- If you've already received a visitor void, you cannot get another one.
- You will need to file an appeal if you believe the citation was issued incorrectly.
