Motorcycle Parking Information
All motorcycles require a parking permit:
- Monday-Friday: 7 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
- All hours, every day, in all residence halls and staff lots.
- Permits are available for summer sessions and the regular academic year.
- Permits are not valid in the Memorial Union Ramp.

Faculty/Staff
- Faculty and staff can add a motorcycle to their Reserve, General Staff, or Ames Lab parking permit.
- There is no additional charge.
- Must still park in designated motorcycle areas.
Motorcycle Parking Areas
Designated Motorcycle Stalls
- Smaller parking spaces labeled with a “Motorcycle Parking” sign.
Odd-Shaped Hatched Areas
- Found at the ends of parking rows or along some roads.
- Some areas may not allow motorcycle parking, and will be marked with “No Parking” signs or painted on the ground.
Designated Areas
- View the Parking Map and look for teal-colored areas to view designated motorcycle parking.
Motorcycle Parking Restrictions
Areas Where Motorcycles Are Not Allowed
- Certain Hatched Areas: Near medical stalls or walkways.
- Regular Vehicle Stalls
- Motorcycles cannot park in regular vehicle stalls from 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM in campus lots.
- Exception: If the motorcycle is parked in a metered or pay-by-stall space, and the space is paid for.
- After 5:30 PM, motorcycles can park in regular vehicle stalls in campus lots.
- Bike Racks
- Motorcycles cannot park in bike racks (these are for bicycles only).
Residence Hall Lots
- Motorcycles are never allowed in vehicle stalls in lots enforced all hours, all days, such as residence hall lots.
