Motorcycle Parking

 Faculty/Staff ONLY: Faculty/Staff can add their motorcycle to their Reserve, General Staff or Ames Lab parking permit. Must still park in designated motorcycle areas.

Permits

All motorcycles require a parking permit while on campus from Monday-Friday 7:00am - 5:30pm and all hours all days in residence hall lots. The permits are available on a yearly basis from July 1 - June 30 (permit not valid in the Memorial Union Ramp).  See permit price here.

Areas where motorcycles are allowed to park:

  • Designated motorcycle stalls- the stalls are smaller and there is a sign that reads “Motorcycle Parking.” 
  • Odd-shaped hatched areas- These areas are found on ends of parking rows or along some roads. Some of these areas do not allow motorcycle parking and will have a sign or painted on the ground “No Parking.” This includes motorcycles.

Areas where motorcycles are NOT allowed to park:

  • Certain hatched areas- hatched areas near medical stalls and part of walkways are NOT allowed for motorcycle parking. Also, hatched areas designated with “No Parking” signs are prohibited.
  • Regular vehicle stalls- motorcycles are NOT allowed in regular vehicle stalls during the hours from 7:00am – 5:30pm in campus lots enforced during that time. The only exception is if the motorcycle is parked in a meter or pay stall and the space is paid.  After 5:30pm, motorcycles are allowed to park in campus lots enforced Monday - Friday 7:00 – 5:30pm.
  • Bike Racks- Motorcycles are NOT allowed to park in bike racks. Bike racks are for bicycles ONLY.

 

Note: motorcycles are NEVER allowed in vehicle stalls in lots enforced all hours all days, such as residence hall lots.
